Since 2017, Wilma Stegeman has been working on a series with the underlying theme: 'leftover' In this series of drawings she gives her vision on what remains of what people consume in meat. While studying the meat remains in the studio, there was not only an experience of death and impermanence, there was also a perception of beauty. The subsequent drawings (landscapes) arose from the fascination for this duality. The ongoing process now goes beyond the meat scraps she started with and has resulted in self-invented meat shapes and uncontrollable watercolor lobes as drawings. A search for where the attraction lies in the abject.
