Janneke Hogerheijde lives and works in Dwingeloo. After her career in education, she followed various courses, including Creative Therapy Visual in Leeuwarden and the art course Academie de Werker in Groningen. Because of this she has clearly developed her own style. Her work is on the cutting edge of textiles and painting. She quite machine stitches imperfect lines with thread on different types of textiles. Lines of that moment. The imperfection gives her a lot of freedom. The freedom to create work that consists of subtle elements. It invites the viewer to watch just a little longer, so that there is always something new to discover. Her most recent work becomes more abstract and consists of thread on artificial leather. Where she previously used a lot of color, her current work consists of one or two colors with different color nuances. She is secretary of the Visual Collective Drenthe and lectures on the development of her work.
